A Vernon vintage film buff is asking for the public's help identify the contents of a mystery reel from a film taken in an unidentified Vernon school over 40 years ago.
Vintage film aficionado Francois Arseneault has posted the unknown footage on his YouTube page, asking the public to see if they can identify the school or even some of the children.
The grainy colour Super 8 footage has no sound but shows a class of either kindergarten or grade one pupils in 1981.
"The wonderful kids just started out life are now in their mid-40s," Arseneault says in the video. "Perhaps a few faces can be recognized?"
Arseneault says he can't remember where he sourced the film but he received it during the wildfires last summer.
"Sadly my memory has failed me as it was a bit of a challenging time," he says.
The film shows the class in action with the occasional close-up of the children.
"I hope this puts a smile on someone's face out there," he says.
