A statue of a woman showed up on a sidewalk in Vernon this morning and been picked up the RCMP who are waiting for its owner to come forward.

The statue of a woman, which looks like it belongs in a cemetery or someone's garden, was found on Highway 6 near downtown and surprised commuters this morning, Aug. 6.

“I drove by it to work in the morning and saw it and thought it was really weird,” Vernon RCMP media relations officer Chris Terleski told iNFOnews.ca.

Terleski he doesn’t know where it came from or whether it was stolen.

“It’s still at the station and we’d love to get it back to its rightful owner,” he said. “We’re hoping anyone missing it will call us, we’ll keep it safe until then.”

Anyone with information can call the detachment at 250-545-7171.
