LAKE COUNTRY – Folk Festival in March catapults forward after successful Blues Festival

The sold out crowd at the Creekside Theatre and Lake Country Community Complex Saturday, January 28th shared their feedback and enthusiasm for the festival format and dynamic atmosphere at this new type of event in Lake Country.  The inaugural Winter Blues Festival showcased five Okanagan-based blues bands on three stages and provided festival goers with a sampling of ribs, chicken and salad.

“I really appreciated all the feedback from people that came out,” said Ryan Donn, Cultural Development Coordinator and event organizer. “We’ve got some good ideas to enhance this event next year and I heard people say they really liked the informal set-up and actually connected with people they hadn’t seen in years.”

Next up, using a similar event style, is the first ever Lake Country Folk Fest on March 18th.  It will feature acts from across BC, craft beer, food trucks, and of course it all happens at a venue with a comfy community vibe so neighbours and friends can connect while enjoying some great entertainment. Headline acts for the Folk Fest include El Mariachi Los Dorados, Lion Bear Fox, and Ari Neufeld.  Kettle River Brewing will also be on hand to ensure an Okanagan craft beer offering is available for purchase to complement the food truck choices from Surf Side California Street Food and Real Pizza.  The doors open at 6:30pm and the music continues until 10:00pm.

Tickets are available for the Lake Country Folk Fest at www.creeksidetheatre.com for $30.  Already 70% of the advance tickets available for the 2018 Winter Blues Festival have been sold in just 4 days.  Telus PureFibre was a sponsor for the 2017 Winter Blues Festival and has also signed on to sponsor the first Lake Country Folk Fest.

People of all ages like to get together and enjoy entertainment, food and activities, so the upcoming Lake Country Indoor Children’s Festival scheduled for Saturday, February 25th will provide the younger audience and whole families with an opportunity to have some fun this winter at the Lake Country Community Complex.  “And you don’t have to live in Lake Country to attend,” said Donn.  “Everyone is welcome!”
