A man wanted on a Canada-wide murder warrant turned himself into RCMP in Salmon Arm late last week.

Christopher Douglas Mathers, 34, was wanted in the stabbing death of Russell David Younker, 49, according to a Calgary Police Service media release. Younker was killed in the west end of downtown Calgary on April 15.

Mathers showed up at the Salmon Arm RCMP detachment on Thursday, May 14, just a few days after the Canada-wide warrant for his arrest was issued.

Calgary police said Mathers had connections in B.C. but did not mention Salmon Arm specifically.

He will be transported back to Calgary this week.
