KELOWNA – Police are warning people to slow down and avoid driving if possible after several multi-vehicle accidents around Kelowna today.

“Our crews have responded to crash after crash along Highway 33 east of Kelowna,” RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in a media release. “Officers responding to these crashes describe the conditions in the area as extremely icy, which has seriously affected driver’s ability to stop and steer.”

Multiple collisions on Highway 33 east of Kelowna have forced the temporary closure of the highway in both directions. Visit DriveBC for up to date road closures and route information.

O’Donaghey says RCMP have responded to multiple collisions in the Lake Country area and warn drivers to slow down, increase following distance and ensure vehicles are properly equipped for the conditions.
