VANCOUVER - A mudslide near White Rock, B.C., has halted Amtrak's passenger train service between Vancouver and Seattle for two days.

BNSF Railway spokesman Gus Melonas says heavy rainfall over the past month saturated the earth and caused the slide on Friday.

He says a 48-hour suspension of service along the tracks was implemented at noon on Friday, while crews work on the corridor.

Amtrak spokesman Jason Abrams says all Amtrak Cascades service between the two cities will be suspended until Sunday.

He says the company is providing affected passengers with bus transportation. (NEWS 1130/The Canadian Press)
