Vancouver Island Mountie faces child pornography charges, internal investigation

SIDNEY, B.C. - A child pornography investigation is underway against a Vancouver Island RCMP officer.

Court documents show the man, a member of the Sidney RCMP detachment, was taken into custody on Dec. 19.

He faces one count of possession of child pornography and one count of production of child pornography.

He has been ordered to return to court on Feb. 20.

The incidents are alleged to have occurred between Sept. 1 and Nov. 23, 2013, around the Victoria suburb of Colwood, where the unidentified officer lives with his wife.

He remains suspended with pay pending the outcome of an internal investigation. (CTV, Global)
