PENTICTON - A local ski area’s future opening date remains in doubt with winter just around the corner.

In an information release issued earlier this month, Baldy Capital Corporation Executive Fred Johnston reported little progress over the past several months regarding the completion of the purchase of the ski resort on terms agreed to by the receiver last December.

Johnston says his corporation is interested in completing the purchase of Mount Baldy Ski Resort, but is concerned the lack of progress over the sale to date may put this season in doubt.

“Given the lack of progress to date, we are concerned the 2015-16 ski season may once again be in jeopardy unless some immediate and significant progress is made which would permit the necessary pre-season preparations,” Johnston says in the release, adding in an interview he was "hoping for more information by the end of the month.”

Mount Baldy reopened last year after being shut down during the 2013-14 ski season. Negotiations to complete the sale of the property to Baldy Capital Corporation have been ongoing since last winter.

Mount Baldy is located approximately 40 kilometres east of Oliver.
