ARMSTRONG - A highway collision between a motorcyclist and a car just south of Armstrong last week remains under investigation.

The crash happened last Friday, June 16, just before 4 p.m. on Highway 97A at Powerhouse Road.

Sgt. Justin Thiessen with the Armstrong RCMP detachment says the motorcyclist was airlifted to Kelowna hospital with serious injuries.

“My understanding is the injured party continues to receive treatment but is not listed as critical,” Thiessen says.

The highway was closed down for about three hours while a B.C. Air Ambulance landed at the scene and an RCMP traffic analyst investigated the crash.

“Our investigation has revealed thus far that the car was attempting to make a turn onto Highway 97A from Powerhouse Road, at which point the motorcycle collided with it,” Thiessen says.

The motorcyclist, who is from the Salmon Arm area, was travelling northbound on Highway 97A.

The driver and sole occupant of the car was not hurt and remained at the scene. He is from the North Okanagan.

Police continue to investigate.
