LAKE COUNTRY - A 26-year-old man was seriously injured after colliding with a deer on Highway 97 in Lake Country last night.

RCMP say just before 10 p.m. yesterday, April 18, the northbound motorcyclist hit a deer in the right hand lane of the highway near Commonwealth Road in Lake Country.

“The man’s blue Suzuki street bike sustained significant damage and was considered a total loss,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in a media release. “Thankfully the rider was wearing a proper safety helmet, which investigators noted remained intact.”

The man was taken to hospital with what police say are non life-threatening injuries.

If you witnessed the crash, and have not yet spoken with police, you are asked to contact Lake Country RCMP Const. Minshull at 250-766-2288.
