A motorcyclist was killed in a collision on Highway 97 yesterday afternoon.
An Okanagan man in his 60s was travelling northbound on Highway 97 around 3:50 p.m. yesterday, May 26, when he struck the raised median separating the north and southbound lanes with his motorcycle, according to an RCMP media release. There were no other vehicles involved.
The incident occurred near Trout Creek, south of Summerland.
The man died at the scene from severe injuries after he lost control and crashed, RCMP said.
The crash continues to be investigated by South Okanagan Traffic Services, the collision analysis and reconstruction service, and the B.C. Coroners Service.
Media relations officer Cpl. Mike Halskov said in a press release nothing is being ruled out at this point in the investigation and police are asking any witnesses, including those who might have dash camera video prior to the crash, to contact RCMP South Okanagan traffic services in Keremeos at 250-499-2250.
