Mostly sunny week ahead for Kamloops

Mostly sunny skies are in store for Kamloops later in the week as March gets underway more like a lamb than a lion.

March appears to be arriving in Kamloops more like a lamb than a lion with no active weather systems on the horizon.

Environment Canada meteorologist Doug Lundquist says a front passing over the region today, March 2, will bring showers to Kamloops with rain a possibility on Friday or Saturday.

“It should be an up and down week with temperatures near to, or above normal averages,” he says.

There is a 60 per cent chance of showers late this afternoon with wind becoming east at 20 km/h.

Today’s high should make it to 7 Celsius with a low of 2 C and a 60 per cent chance of showers early in the evening before skies clear by midnight.

A mix of sun and cloud is in store for Tuesday and Wednesday with the wind southeast at 30 km/h gusting to 50 on Tuesday afternoon.

A high of 9 C is expected Tuesday, along with a high of 9 C on Wednesday with lows of 3 C and 0 C respectively.

Thursday and Friday should be mostly sunny with a high of 14 C on Thursday, and 9 C on Friday, with lows of -1 C and -2 C respectively.

The weekend looks like a sun and cloud mix at this point with a high of 8 C on Saturday and 9 C on Sunday.

Cloudy periods are forecast Saturday night with a low of -3 C.

Normal temperatures at this time of year in Kamloops are highs of 8 C and lows of -2 C.
