RCMP officers executed a search warrant at a home in Vernon last week, seizing 2,400 prescription pills along with other drugs.
Police had been tipped off when neighbours complained about large numbers of people coming and going from the residence in the 2800 block of 40 Street, according to an RCMP media release issued today, Dec. 5.
When officers raided the home on Wednesday, Nov. 30, they found 12 people inside and a large quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine, prescription pills and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
"Our investigators are seeing a dramatic increase in the number of prescription pills being found in the possession of drug traffickers, and the seizure of over 2,400 pills in this case, is shocking and very concerning,” RCMP Sgt. David Evans said in the release.
RCMP said four people were arrested on a number of charges including an arrest warrant, breach of release conditions and drug-related offences.
A 31-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman facing possible drug trafficking charges were released from custody with a court date, police said.
RCMP didn’t say what happened to the two other people arrested during the raid.
