KAMLOOPS - The petition to stop Daylight Saving Time has surpassed it’s goal of 10,000 signatures, meaning the provincial government is mandated to review it.

Former Kamloops Chamber of Commerce president Bob Dieno and his friend Tara Holmes began the petition and Facebook page on Monday and by 3:50 p.m. Oct. 30, the petition reached 11,000 signatures.

“I’m absolutely amazed and shocked about the support,” Dieno says. “We talked about this on Monday and figured we might get enough signatures by the next time change in April — not in three-and-a-half days."

Dieno says he and Holmes have already reached out to local MLAs Todd Stone and Terry Lake to get them to present the petition in the B.C. legislature for review.

“I do know that they have to present the petition; I can’t myself,” Dieno says. “What we really need is people to continue to support it."

The petition can be found here.
