ENDERBY - An Ashton Creek woman reported missing last week has been found dead.

Police say they located the body of Lisa Ruigrok, 52, on May 22 near Hidden Lake after receiving a tip that a vehicle associated to her was seen in that area.

Ruigrok was reported missing to the RCMP on May 18, however police have not said when she was last seen.

Officers pursued a number of investigative avenues in an effort to locate her, RCMP spokesperson Const. Kelly Brett says in a media release, including ground searches throughout Enderby and surrounding areas and even as far as Alberta.

“Extensive arial searches were conducted utilizing support from RCMP Air Services,” Brett says.

It was after receiving information about a burgundy coloured minivan associated to Ruigrok that police found her near Hidden Lake in the Trinity Valley area. The vehicle was seen near the Hidden Lake Campground, but police have not said exactly where Ruigrok’s body was found, only that it was near the lake.

“Foul play does not appear to have been involved in the woman's death,” Brett says.

The investigation has now been handed over to the B.C. Coroners Service.

According to an earlier media release, family said it was out of character for Ruigrok to be out of contact.
