A toddler who went missing in the Beaverdell area this week walked for roughly five kilometres along quad trails and logging roads before he was found.

At 1 p.m. on Aug. 12, Central Okanagan Search and Rescue crews responded to reports of a missing two-year-old in the Beaverdell area, according to COSAR's Facebook post.

Twelve members responded, including three spotters in a helicopter. COSAR also used quads, kayaks and searched on foot.

Friends and family members of the missing child also joined the search, and the toddler was found at the eight-km mark of Beaver Creek Road three hours later, according to COSAR.

"It is believed he walked approximately five km along quad trails and logging roads in the three hours he was missing," according to COSAR.

The extensive search included COSAR, the RCMP, Conservation Officers, a fixed wing aircraft and two helicopters.
