REVELSTOKE - The body of a missing Alberta skier was found near Revelstoke Mountain Resort yesterday.
Michael David Foster, 24, was a resident of Airdrie, Alberta and originally hailed from Aurora, Ontario.
Members of the Revelstoke Search and Rescue found his body in the Greekly Creek drainage area outside the ski resort's boundaries after sunset on Saturday, Feb. 17, according to an RCMP media release.
Foster was last seen on Tuesday, Feb. 13 and was reported missing on Friday. Police say he was reportedly skiing alone with minimal backcountry experience.
Revelstoke RCMP and the B.C. Coroner Service are investigating Foster’s death.
Police remind those using the backcountry to be prepared, always carry extra food, water, and a communication device.
They advise to travel with others and to notify someone as to your expected time of return.
