The majority of people who go missing are found within days, but in some cases those days turn into weeks and then months.
Such is the case of Shannon White, who has been missing from Kamloops since Nov. 1, 2021.

Kamloops Search and Rescue efforts remain suspended pending a new tip and RCMP have not released a media update since the middle of November.
White’s immediate family members want to keep her story and photographs at the forefront of the public’s eye as much as possible.
Michelle Couture is Shannon’s cousin. She said the family is too emotional for an interview at this time, but sent a statement asking the public for help.
“We pray every day for information that will bring her home,” she said. “We ask the public to please continue to share her story, circulate her picture, search for her, and pray for her. There is a hole in our family that cannot be filled until she is found. Please help bring our Shannon home.”
The circumstances around White’s disappearance appear to be confusing and suspicious, with RCMP reporting her Jeep stolen and seen in several places in the city on the day she went missing and close friends claiming White’s behaviour on the day she disappeared was odd.

“The search for Shannon continues and we are still looking for her,” said Const. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. “If anyone is out there hiking or driving around, don’t stop looking. We haven’t stopped looking."
When asked whether the case is being investigated as a homicide, Evelyn said the serious crimes unit has been involved since the beginning and are the primary unit looking after the investigation.
“Right from the get go we identified the case as suspicious,” she said. “The thing to note is that cases do not go cold. We have to locate the person. The investigation remains open until they are located."
While many remain hopeful White will be found soon, rumours have taken over the narrative in the vacuum of information from police and others.
“In general when it comes to social media, a lot of what is being said is false,” Evelyn said. “We caution people to check their sources and be careful because rumours can snowball quickly and circulate. We put press releases out and get them out as quickly as possible.”
There has been a Go Fund Me set up to continue to support the efforts to bring White home.
