UPDATE: Mikayla Savage, a 17-year-old girl reported missing by the Sidney, North Saanich RCMP has been located in the Okanagan and is safe.

THOMPSON-OKANAGAN - A missing girl from the Sidney North Saanich area might be somewhere in the Okanagan.

RCMP are asking for public assistance to locate 17-year-old Mikayla Savage who was last seen by her family May 22. So far sightings have been reported from Victoria to the Okanagan.

Police say Savage may be traveling willingly with a companion and if that's the case, Mounties and Savage's parents want to speak with her to confirm her safety.

Savage is about five feet tall, Caucasian and about 90 pounds. She has brown hair that was in dread-locks. She may also be carrying a backpack and a guitar. As well, she may be with a male companion and a white pitbull, possibly named "Popeye".

Anyone with information can contact Const. Kevin Shaw at 250-656-3931 or their local police department.
