Three minors were arrested early Saturday morning following an armed robbery at the 7-11 on Middleton Way in Vernon.

The crime took place just after 1 a.m. Two young men entered the store wearing black hoodies, jeans and balaclavas and produced weapons said Gord Molendyk in a press release. An undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes were stolen.

One suspect was tracked and located by one of the Police Dog units.

A 17-year-old and a 16-year-old are still in custody while the third suspect, who Molendyk says, "is considerably younger", has been released.

"These are very serious charges for young people," said Molendyk, adding the young men are expected to attend court later today.

Police continue their investigation. Officers are not disclosing the weapons used in this offence at this time.
