Minor injuries after six-car crash in North Okanagan

ENDERBY - Police responded to a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 97A and Fenton Road in Enderby on Friday.

RCMP were called to the crash involving six vehicles on Friday, June 1 just before 7 p.m.

Police say traffic heading northbound was stopped for a vehicle trying to make a left-hand turn. A white Ford pickup truck failed to stop in time which caused a chain reaction of several other vehicles rear-ending one another, according to an RCMP media release.

“A red Chevrolet pickup travelling southbound was towing a boat the time it was struck, causing the pickup to lose the boat and trailer which ended up in the ditch,” Const. Kelly Brett says in the media release.

Three vehicles involved veered off the road to attempt to avoid the collision but ended up colliding with oncoming southbound traffic and stationary vehicles.

Police issued a ticket to one driver for following to close under the Motor Vehicle Act.

“It is very fortunate there were only minor injuries with one person being transported by B.C. Ambulance Service to the local medical facility,” Brett says.

RCMP are reminding motorists to stay alert as the highways get busier during the summer months. For more safe summer driving tips, go here.
