Mini blaze reported in Kelowna neighbourhood

A blaze that occurred in a Rutland neighbourhood was quickly extinguished Sunday morning.

At approximately 2. p.m. the Kelowna Fire Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a building on fire in the 800 block of Highway 33, according to the fire department in a press release.

The first arriving officer reported a detached building that was completely engulfed in flames. The fire was located next to a detached four car garage/workshop structure, according to the press release.

The blaze was quickly knocked down, but did cause exterior damage to the garage. The owners were home at the time.

The fire was not suspicious and most likely electrical in nature, according to the fire department.

The fire department responded with four engines, a  rescue unit, water tender and a command vehicle with 18 personnel and was also assisted by the RCMP, BC Ambulance and FortisBC.
