Canadian Armed Forces members will be at a South Okanagan landfill tomorrow to help RCMP dispose of an "identified ordnance."

The Keremeos Transfer Station will be closed until the operation is over, while local residents will likely hear a loud explosion, according to an RCMP news release.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy said something was found in the dump that prompted military and police involvement to dispose of it, but he did not explain exactly what was found.

Police aren't sure where they item came from.

The public is not in danger "as a result of this controlled disposal," police said in the release.

Along with the landfill, El Rancho Drive near the entrance will also be closed until the operation is finished.

Police didn't say what time it will take place.
