Mild temperatures this weekend in the Okanagan

OKANAGAN - It's going to be a mild and damp weekend in the Okanagan.

The Environment Canada forecast calls for a mainly sunny day today, Jan. 4, in the Okanagan with daytime high temperatures ranging from around 5 C in Kelowna and Vernon to 7 C in Penticton. Overnight the mercury is expected to drop to around 0 C.

Meteorologist Matt MacDonald says temperatures are "definitely milder than normal." Usually at this time of year the Okanagan can expect highs of around -2 C and lows of -8 C.

For Saturday there's a 60 per cent chance of showers in the North and Central Okanagan, and 30 per cent chance in the South Okanagan. Temperatures in Vernon and Kelowna should be about 3 C during the day, and 4 C in Penticton. Overnight temperatures are forecast to drop to only about 1 C.

Then on Sunday 4 C is predicted high temperature in the Okanagan. Showers are expected throughout the day, and we may see some snow or rain overnight.
