Merritt to get visit from mobile resiliency centre for wildfire evacuees

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District’s resiliency centre will be mobilizing to bring services to wildfire evacuees in Merritt and Abbotsford this week.

The resiliency centre will provide support and resources to evacuees in Merritt on Aug. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., according to a press release issued by the Thompson Nicola Regional District.

The centre will be set up in the Sagebrush Room of the Best Western Plus Merritt Hotel at 3969 Crawford Ave.

The next stop will be in Abbotsford on Aug. 13 and 14 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. and services will be available at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Centre at 36035 North Parallel Rd.

The resiliency centre will have Red Cross and Service B.C. in attendance.

There are currently 85 active wildfires burning in the Kamloops Fire Centre and 273 fires burning across the province, according to the B.C. Wildfire Service.
