As the latest winner of Lotto 6/49 Mitchell Shuter was in Kamloops Tuesday afternoon to collect his $11 million cheque from the BCLC office downtown.

The Merritt resident matched all six numbers in last Wednesday's draw and while his first reaction was disbelief he has begun settling in to reality by making plans for a “quick Las Vegas trip to celebrate.” Shuter, 50, also plans on taking a trip to Italy to watch baseball this summer after graduating from Nicola Valley Institute of Technology.

Kamloops Fire Safety Educator Sheldon Guertin says he knows Shuter from when he was a kid because Shuter was very involved in sports, often coaching and reffing. Guertin describes Shuter as the "most deserving man" and is genuinely pleased to see him come away with the prize.

Shuter's prize totaled $11,073,738. Last year more than $75 million in Lotto 6/49 prizes were awarded in BC.
