A tip from the public helped RCMP arrest a suspect in the armed robbery of a Merritt convenience store last week.
A man with a handgun held up the clerk at Bob’s Mini-Mart on Clapperton Avenue in Merritt Friday afternoon, May 10. He got away in small two-door Fiat.
RCMP say after the tip was received, the suspect was arrested in downtown Merritt. Police don’t say when the arrest happened.
At the time of the robbery, RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy said the risk to the public was unknown but pointed out it appeared to be targeted “towards carrying out a robbery, and not the general public.”
The suspect is in custody facing several charges including robbery with a firearm.
No other information was released to the public by RCMP as the investigation continues.
