Jack Sharkey and Jillian Donald are ready to compete, but only if they can make it to Croatia.
The two teenagers have been training together intermittently since they were eight years old. That dedication has culminated in their selection to join Team Canada at this year's International Taekwondo Federation World Championships happening this October in Croatia.
We interviewed Jill and Jack to get all the details on their competition, how they began training together from such a young age, and how their community in Vernon came together to support their efforts.
You can watch the full interview on our YouTube Channel.
Due to Taekwondo not being a recognized Olympic sport, those who compete in championships such as this one are limited in terms of funding. They don't have access to the usual grants other talented athletes receive. Instead, they're relying on their families, friends, and their growing community to support their trip to Croatia so they can compete.
To support these two Team Canada teens, they are accepting donations through their GoFundMe.
