May long weekend forecast in Okanagan looking good

Expect to see mostly cloudy skies and rain today, May 17, 2019, in the Okanagan.

KELOWNA - There's the possibility of showers this May long weekend in the Okanagan, but it's not a big chance.

Environment Canada is calling for a Victoria Day long weekend with seasonable temperatures, a mix of sun and cloud and a 30 to 40 per cent chance of showers each day.

Today, May 17, is a different story. The forecast for Vernon and Kelowna calls for periods of rain ending late this afternoon, followed by a 60 per cent chance of showers with five to 10 mm of rain expected. Winds becoming southwest at 30 km/h this afternoon are expected to become light this evening, with a high of 15 Celsius and a low of 8 C.

In Penticton today there is a 40 per cent chance of showers with a high of 16 C and a low of 9 C

In Vernon and Kelowna tomorrow expect a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon and southwest winds at 20 km/h late in the day. Tomorrow’s high should reach 20 C with an overnight low of 10 C.

There is a 40 per cent chance of showers in Penticton tomorrow with a high of 19 C and a low of 10 C.

On Sunday, the forecast is for a mix sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers and a high of 19 C, along with an overnight low of 9 C.

Monday’s forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud along with a 30 per cent chance of showers a high of 21 C and a low of 9 C.

The start of the work week on Tuesday should see sunny skies and a high of 23 C.

Normally at this time of year in the Okanagan we can expect highs of around 20 C and lows of about 8 C.
