Firefighters removed entrance keys to apartments across Kamloops last week after a master key was reported missing.
Kamloops Fire Rescue acting chief Ryan Cail couldn't say exactly what day the report came in, nor whether the key was stolen.
Cail did say, however, that firefighters took action "immediately" after they heard.

"Right now I know there's no security issues," he said. "We took all measures to ensure everyone's safe going forward."
The master key is used to access lock boxes outside multi-family and commercial buildings, which firefighters keep in case of emergencies.
The boxes often hold keys to enter the building itself, along with others like utility rooms.

Cail couldn't say exactly how many buildings were at risk, but they were "mostly apartments."
He also couldn't confirm exactly when the report came in, but he said Kamloops RCMP knows of the missing key and is investigating. As far as Cail knows, there were no reported break-ins or criminal incidents related to the missing master key.
Kamloops RCMP was not immediately available for comment, but we'll add information when it's received.
