Jealous Fruits, a family-owned and operated Okanagan company, has announced the opening of its new cherry packing facility located beside The Jammery on Highway 97 in Kelowna.
"This precast insulated concrete facility is 140,000 square feet and has been in planning and construction phases since the site was acquired in 2015. The new plant is central to our various orchards, logistically accessible for shipping, and has easy customer and staff access," according to Jealous Fruits in an online announcement.
The new facility features a retail shop, adjoining dorms to house 130 staff members and three cold storage rooms that can house 550 tonnes of cherries. The company's administrative headquarters is also located in the building.
