A busy weekend for Kamloops RCMP with over 300 calls including a robbery on the Red Bridge, a stabbing and weapons seized in a traffic stop.

Around 1:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, two masked men robbed a man on the Red Bridge. He was walking northbound when a dark SUV stopped next to him. Two suspects got out, sprayed bear spray into the air and demanded he give them whatever he had on him, according to an RCMP media release.

The victim complied and the suspects fled.

The next day, around 12:50 a.m., officers stopped a speeding vehicle in the Valleyview neighbourhood. During the traffic stop, officers found drugs inside the vehicle and arrested the driver. After a further search and uncovering more drug paraphernalia, officers found loaded sawed-off shotgun, ammunition and knives.

A man was arrested and later released, RCMP said. The investigation is ongoing.

Then, around 1:12 a.m. on Sunday, officers located a stabbing victim when responding to a disturbance call on the 2700 block of Thompson Drive.

Paramedics took the victim to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police later identified and arrested three suspects who were released with conditions and court dates.
