Most actively traded companies on the TSX

Some of the most active companies traded Monday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (13,893.49, up 144.91 points):

Penn West Petroleum Ltd. (TSX:PWT). Oil and gas. Down 23 cents, or 21.90 per cent, to 82 cents on 9.2 million shares. The Calgary-based oil and gas producer said it could be in violation of agreements with lenders by the end of next month.

Data Group Ltd. (TSX:DGI). Business services. Unchanged at to two cents on 7.7 million shares.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Up 10 cents, or 1.49 per cent, to $6.79 on 7.3 million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Up 11 cents, or 1.78 per cent, to $6.28 on seven million shares.

Teck Resources Ltd. (TSX:TCK.B). Miner. Up 76 cents, or 6.23 per cent, to $12.95 on 6.5 million shares.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Up 49 cents, or 5.64 per cent, to $9.18 on 6.4 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc. (TSX:VRX). Drugs, health-care products. Up $1.29, or 3.84 per cent, to $34.85 on 1.4 million shares. Valeant is offering rebates on the price of two heart drugs that have come under scrutiny by the U.S. Congress. The Quebec-based company said Monday that effective immediately all U.S. hospitals will be eligible for rebates of between 10 and 40 per cent based on volumes purchased for Nitropress and Isuprel.
