VANCOUVER - A Maple Ridge woman received a $675,000 Christmas gift from her niece.

The Set For Life lottery ticket, purchased at the Orchard Park Shopping Centre in Kelowna, turned out to be a winner.

Marlene Evens of Maple Ridge says she waited until Christmas morning to scratch all of the tickets she received as presents, including the one from her niece.

“The Set For Life ticket was the first one I scratched and I won the top prize on the very first line of the ticket,” Evans says in a release from the B.C. Lottery Corporation. “I held the ticket and stared at it before calling my husband over to check it out.”

Evans plans to use the money to help pay for a new home.
