A Kamloops man on the run since last April has been arrested by the Vancouver Police Department.

Robert James Rennie was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for crimes committed on Valentine's Day 2019, including armed robbery, assault with a weapon and forcible confinement.

He was arrested by Vancouver Police in a traffic stop on March 1, around 2:20 p.m., according to a Kamloops RCMP press release.

Kamloops RCMP first arrested Rennie and two others following the initial investigation. The two other men, Michael Mathieson and Justin Daniels, had previously been sentenced, RCMP said.

Rennie, however, did not stick around for sentencing.

"He had obtained bail following his arrest, then fled from a halfway house in April 2020. He had been on the run since," Kamloops RCMP media relations officer Const. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

Rennie now remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 11.
