The man was thrown from the ATV when it flipped as he was riding it back to his campsite, according to a press release from the rescue group.

"He sustained serious head injuries. He was found shortly after by two dirt bikers who immediately administered first aid and called 9-1-1," according to COSAR.

COSAR members arrived as B.C. Ambulance crews were putting the man in an ambulance. They remained at the head of the trail to ensure ambulance crews were able to exit the area safety.

This was COSAR's eighth call in June and the 47th call this year.
