Man seen with hands down his pants in Okanagan park issued open alcohol fine

A man was issued fine for having open liquor in a public place after he was spotted by a Lake Country woman for inappropriate behaviour.

Cathy Rahn Vinkle noticed a man in Beasley Park in Lake Country allegedly touching himself while looking at a particular person in the park in the evening, Thursday, June 25. She noted that he was not looking in the direction of any children in the park.

She took photo and video of the man before calling the police. She also shared an image in a well-known Lake Country Facebook group in order to warn others.

Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy said in a news release that Lake Country officers were called to the park shortly after 7 p.m.

An officer found the man, and an investigation determined he had his hands down his pants but he never exposed himself.

Noseworthy said the 63-year-old man was removed from the park and was transported home. He was issued a fine for having open liquor in a public place.
