KAMLOOPS - A man has admitted to assaulting a convicted Kelowna killer, and court records show the incident happened while both of them were in custody.

Travis James Hache, born 1985, pleaded guilty in Kamloops Supreme Court yesterday, Jan. 3 to one count of aggravated assault in the incident which occurred more than one year ago.

According to the charge read out in court, Hache admitting to the aggravated assault of Daniel James Mader which allegedly happened Dec. 6, 2015. The details of the offence were not read into the record.

Hache’s co-accused in the case, Jacob Daniel Lowes is also charged with aggravated assault. According to court documents, all three men appeared to have been in custody at the time of the offence, which took place in Kamloops.

Mader is a prolific Kelowna criminal who was convicted of manslaughter in 2010, in connection to the 2005 death of Jody Elliott. Lowes is one of three men facing trial for charges stemming from a shooting incident in Vernon's Polson Park nearly three years ago.

Mader had still been running into trouble with the law after his release on the manslaughter conviction.

Lowes is heading to trial for the aggravated assault charge. He's also going to trial for charges including attempted murder in connection to the shooting incident in Vernon.

Hache is expected to be sentenced for the aggravated assault charge in April.
