Man injured in shooting south of Peachland

RCMP

PEACHLAND -  A daytime shooting south of Peachland is now being investigated by Mounties.

RCMP received a report Aug. 11 at approximately 5:47 p.m., of a shooting that took place outside a residence located in the 7200-block of Highway 97 South, south of Peachland. Emergency first responders rushed to the scene, where they located a man with an apparent gunshot wound to his lower extremities.

The investigation by West Kelowna RCMP General Investigation Section in its early stages.

The victim was transported by ambulance to hospital for medical treatment.

“Although the man’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening in nature, there could have been a very different outcome,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, spokesperson for the Kelowna Regional RCMP Detachment. “Early indicators suggest that the incident was isolated in nature, and police do not believe that the general public is at further risk."

The suspect has been described to police as seen wearing a black T-shirt and had his face covered.

Anyone with any additional information is asked to contact the West Kelowna RCMP GIS at 250-768-2880. Or remain completely anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or by leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net.
