Salmon Arm RCMP have arrested a man in relation to an ongoing investigation after a fire was started in the workshed of a building in a mobile home park this week.

Police initially asked for the public's assistance in identifying a man who may have been related to the incident. Footage of a man at the scene of the fire was captured from surveillance video.

"On June 4, at approximately 6:15 p.m., a Salmon Arm RCMP frontline officer spotted an individual matching the person of interest while on patrol. The man has now been positively identified and taken into police custody. The investigation continues at this time," according to the RCMP in a news release.

Witness TJ Wager said in a previous interview with iNFOnews that he saw the fire was in the shed portion of a building that has been used for storage in the mobile home park. The fire was deemed suspicious and was reported at around 6:15 a.m. on June 4 at Evergreen Mobile Home Park on 10th Ave NE.

The shed was destroyed, Wagner said, adding that there was a large amount of smoke and flames.
