PENTICTON - A man was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries after getting his feet tangled in a boat propeller on Sunday.

Penticton Fire Chief Larry Watkinson says members responded to Okanagan Lake Marina yesterday, July 14, around 1:22 p.m. on reports of a man bleeding severely.

The man had been out on Okanagan Lake close to shore near Naramata indulging in watersports when he became entangled in the boat’s propeller.

Watkinson says the man sustained very serious injuries to his feet. Firefighters assisted bystanders in controlling the bleeding until the man could be transported to hospital.

Watkinson reminds boaters to be aware of swimmers nearby, and shut the motor off when swimmers are near the boat.

The man’s condition is not known.
