Kamloops RCMP are looking for witnesses after a man was found on the side of Highway 5 with serious injuries last night.
Officers were dispatched at around 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, to an area near the Sugar Loaf Overpass where a motorist spotted a man leaning against a concrete barrier in the northbound lanes of Highway 5, according to an RCMP media release.
“Based on the preliminary investigation, which included the assistance of the Police Dog and Forensic Identification Service units, we believe the man was beaten and left underneath an overpass nearby, before making his way out to the highway, where he was located by a passing motorist,” RCMP Staff Sgt. Todd Wiebe said in the release.
The man was taken to the hospital and is being treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Anyone who was driving in the area of the incident between 3 p.m. and 6:25 p.m. and has dash camera footage or anyone who was slowly driving in the area is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP. Police are also looking for footage of anything below the Sugar Loaf overpass tunnel.
Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference 2024-7310.
