A Sorrento man in his 40s died Sunday when his car crashed into the Salmon River.

The Salmon Arm RCMP and emergency crews attended to a report Oct. 11 at approximately 4:45 p.m. of a single vehicle collision in the 3200 block of 50 Street SW, Staff Sgt. Scott West with the Salmon Arm detachment, said in a press release.

"The event was not witnessed and it is believed to have occurred prior to being reported by a person who was farming in the area," West said.

"The investigation determined that the green Ford pickup had been traveling northbound when it left the road, hit trees and flipped into the Salmon River. No criminality on the part of any other driver is suspected to be a causal factor in the crash."

The driver was determined to be the sole occupant. He was pronounced deceased a the scene.

At this time the B.C. Coroners Service continues to follow up in their investigation.

The RCMP would like to thank Salmon Arm Rescue and Ben's towing for their assistance in this investigation.
