Man bear sprayed, hit by truck in Kamloops assault

FILE PHOTO

Kamloops RCMP were called to a vehicle collision Sunday morning, but soon discovered the situation was more violent.

Police first got a report of a car crash in the 1600 block of Lac Le Jeune Road followed by yelling, around 4:30 a.m., Sept. 18, according to an RCMP news release.

When police arrived they found a man with minor injuries. RCMP said he had been in an argument that escalated to a physical confrontation. He was then bear sprayed before he was hit by an "older model" green pickup truck.

Another vehicle was damaged, but it's unclear whether it was the victim's.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, who knew the victim, wasn't at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed or has information related to this investigation is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file number 2022-33287.
