Man attempts to steal truck in North Kamloops

A confrontation on Tranquille Road led to the arrest of a man known to police after he attempted to steal a truck.

Kamloops RCMP were called to the 300 block of Tranquille Road on Oct. 23 when a person confronted a man trying to take a truck "without permission," according to a Kamloops RCMP news release.

In response to the person who confronted him, the suspect displayed a handgun.

“The suspect was known to police who were able to recognize and locate him nearby,” Const. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson, said in the release. “A short foot pursuit occurred as the man allegedly attempted to flee.”

The firearm was found to be a BB gun, which he held in violation of his probation.

Darcy Dean Anderson, 32, is facing multiple charges, including six for breaching his probation and one charge for obstructing an officer.

Anderson was released with a court appearance scheduled for Oct. 28.
