Man arrested in Kamloops for making threats with straight razor

A 28-year-old man is expected in court next week after he allegedly threatened someone with a straight razor.

He made the threat after he was asked to leave a property and now he's facing five criminal charges for assault and making threats, according to Kamloops RCMP.

Police did not say which property it was, but officers responded to the 600 block of Columbia Street West around 8 p.m., Sept. 4.

“As officers pulled into the parking lot, they observed a suspect walking nearby and quickly took him into custody,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

Vance William Plante, 28, is now facing two charges for threatening with a weapon, two for assault and one for carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Although police offered some details about the threats, there was no mention of the alleged assault in the RCMP news release.

Plante is expected in court on Sept. 15, where he is also scheduled to plead guilty for breaching a previous peace bond, according to court records.

Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
