An armed man broke into a home in the Shuswap on the weekend, and the people who live there confronted him.
Sicamous RCMP were called to a home in Malakwa because of a break and enter in progress early in the morning on Jan. 18, according to a press release from police.
RCMP say the suspect, allegedly armed with a weapon, broke into the home and then got into a confrontation with the residents.
Police arrived and arrested Kraig Bergson.
Bergson has been charged with several offences including assault with a weapon, break and enter, disguising face, breach of undertaking, and possessing a weapon for dangerous purpose.
Bergson appeared in court and is still in custody.
“We are proud of our officers’ great response to this very dynamic situation and that we were able to get Bergson into custody,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Brett Urano said in the release. "We are working to support the victims at this time."
