Man arrested after early morning vehicle break-ins and foot chase in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS - A man is facing theft and drug charges after an early morning break-in and foot chase.

Police were called to Sahali around 6 a.m. today, June 7, when a resident spotted someone in his neighbour’s vehicle. Police arrived in the neighbourhood, spotted the suspect and a foot chase ensued.

They caught the man and found him in possession of stolen items. His backpack, which he tossed during the chase, had drugs and what RCMP believe are more stolen items.

The 30-year-old man is now facing charges of theft, possession of stolen property and possession of controlled substances.

“We rely on citizens calling us to let us know if something suspicious is happening in their area,” Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in an RCMP release. “In this case, the witness had a detailed description of the male and his direction of travel. This aided the officers in locating the suspect.”
