Former Conservative cabinet minister Lunn gets government appointment

OTTAWA - A former Conservative cabinet minister who was defeated in the last election has a new gig.

Gary Lunn has been appointed to the board of directors of the Canada Foundation for Sustainable Development Technology.

The government says the part-time appointment is to last one year.

Lunn was the natural resources minister, minister of state for sport and the Harper government's point man for the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games.

Green party Leader Elizabeth May defeated Lunn in a British Columbia riding in the May 2011 federal election.

Sustainable Development Technology Canada is a not-for-profit foundation that finances clean technologies through two multimillion-dollar funds.
