Lots to do in and around Penticton this May long weekend

PENTICTON - No shortage of things to do in the South Okanagan this May long weekend.

The Penticton Farmers' Market and the Penticton Community Market are back on Main Street for the summer, starting at 8:30 a.m and running until 1 p.m. Check out this recent message from the mayor regarding Penticton’s famous farmers market.

The Cirque du Soliel Varekai is performing at the South Okanagan Events Centre until May 17. The production pays tribute to the nomadic soul, to the spirit and art of the circus tradition and to the infinite passion of those whose quest takes them along the path leads to Varekai, according to the show’s webpage

The Meadowlark Nature Festival runs through the May long weekend, until May 18. The five day multi-disciplinary festival features more than 70 guided tours through the South Okanagan. Keynote speaker Chris Turner speaks at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre on Friday, May 15. The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails followed by dinner, the keynote presentation, followed by live and silent auctions. Finally, rodeo season continues in the South Okanagan-SImilakameen with the running of the 77th annual Keremeos Elks Rodeo on May 16, 17 and 18. Saturday events include team roping and barrel racing with main rodeo events taking place on Sunday and Monday. There’s a Saturday night rodeo dance at Victory Hall in Keremeos doors open at 8 p.m., and the Keremeos and District Volunteer Firefighters will be holding their famous pancake breakfasts Sunday and Monday at Memorial Park. The annual Keremeos Elks Rodeo Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. on Monday. Visit the Keremeos Elks Rodeo website for more information.
